I recently completed an audio slideshow for my multimedia class. I chose to document an event, which was risky, but I'm pretty happy with the final result.
BobcaThon is a fundraiser held at Ohio University each year to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House of Central Ohio. Volunteers collect donations and pledge their commitment to dance for twelve hours straight. The donations that are raised help provide a place to stay for families who have children being hospitalized long-term.
I learned a few things doing this video:
- It's difficult to do an event, because you don't get the chance to go back and collect more audio/photos if you realize you don't have enough.
- It's hard to collect audio and take photos at the same time.
- It's hard to avoid peaking when people are yelling.... I need to learn to anticipate this better.
