Weeks 9 and 10 - The Home Stretch

Yesterday I completed my photo internship with the Reading Eagle. A part of me is sad to leave, but another part of me is excited to take what I've learned and use it in Rio in a couple weeks and then in school once it starts. I'm excited to share with my peers my experiences and trials throughout this process, and I can't wait to see what they all have to say about their experiences elsewhere.

When I began this internship, the first few weeks I kept telling myself that I didn't like newspaper work. I didn't like not being able to get to know my subjects. And while the latter part is still true, I DO sincerely appreciate getting to know the people that I photograph, my feelings on the former have changed. Working for a newspaper this summer gave me the opportunity to constantly shoot and shoot and shoot.... and to constantly shoot so many different events and subjects that each presented their own unique challenges. Between five classes, work, and my own free time, I don't have that much time to shoot at school, so I really appreciated being able to focus on that this summer.

These last couple weeks, I was given some interesting assignments to shoot. I shot a Hot Air Balloon Pilot training camp for teens, an inner-city basketball league, a belt-sander race, and my first Pride festival.
