Marilyn Wentworth hugs her white Suri alpaca, named Phoenix, after giving him a vaccine to prevent Meningeal worm, a parasite that deer carry which can paralyze an alpaca. Wentworth gave each of her alpacas the vaccination on September 11, 2015, at Phoenix Hill Farm in Athens, Ohio, because the vaccinations must be given once every eight weeks. Wentworth has been breeding and raising Suri alpacas for fourteen years.
